One of Rita Lynn Gilman’s collegiate pitchers, Rhyann Jones began training with Rita at just 11 years old. After years of developing her skills under Rita’s instruction, Rhyann has gone on to build a successful collegiate career while helping mentor and develop young pitchers of her own.
Rhyann is now offering satellite private lessons in Roanoke Valley and focuses on speed building, drop ball, and change up mechanics for students.

As a freshman at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Rhyann helped lead the Spartans to their sixth consecutive Southern Conference (SoCon) Regular Season Championship, third SoCon Tournament Championship, and a berth to the NCAA Regionals. She earned First Team All-SoCon and SoCon All-Freshman Team honors and was named SoCon Pitcher of the Week. Rhyann finished the season with a 2.54 ERA, including a conference ERA of 1.96, while posting an 11-3 record with five complete-game shutouts across 104.2 innings pitched.
During her sophomore season, Rhyann appeared in 25 games with 21 starts in the circle. She logged 103 innings pitched, recorded 49 strikeouts, and finished the season with a 3.74 ERA. She posted a season-high eight strikeouts against Charleston Southern and maintained a .950 fielding percentage defensively.
Her junior season was unfortunately cut short due to a season-ending injury. Through rehabilitation and perseverance, Rhyann returned stronger and continued to make an impact for the Spartans.
In her redshirt junior season, she helped lead UNCG to both a SoCon Regular Season Championship and SoCon Tournament Championship while earning Second Team All-SoCon honors. She made 24 appearances with 20 starts in the circle, recording a 2.64 ERA and 47 strikeouts over 92.2 innings pitched. She posted career-best marks in hits allowed, runs allowed, earned runs, and walks while finishing the season with a 7-5 record. Among SoCon pitchers, she ranked first in walks allowed per seven innings, third in WHIP, and fourth in both ERA and games started.
Prior to her collegiate career, Rhyann was a standout pitcher at Lord Botetourt High School in Daleville, Virginia. She helped lead her team to back-to-back Region 3D Championships and a Class 3 State Runner-Up finish. During her senior season, she posted a remarkable 0.51 ERA with 204 strikeouts in 170 innings pitched while holding opponents to a .161 batting average. She earned First Team All-State honors and recorded a career-high 17 strikeouts in a single game.
Now entering her fifth year while pursuing her master’s degree, Rhyann brings over a decade of pitching experience and a passion for helping young athletes reach their goals. She specializes in speed development, drop-ball mechanics, changeups, and building confidence in the circle. Her goal is to help pitchers develop strong fundamentals, compete at a high level, and gain the skills necessary to succeed both on and off the field.
